Families in Bondeni and Mwembe Kuku in Mvita Sub-County, Mombasa County, are appealing to the government to intervene in a centuries-old land dispute they say has left generations of residents without secure ownership of properties they have occupied for decades. The residents claim the land was historically held under an amana arrangement during the Sultanate era, but allege that some custodians later claimed portions as private property. They are calling for a review of historical land records, recognition of legitimate occupants and issuance of title deeds to those with valid claims.
