Mombasa car dealers have staged a peaceful protest against recent changes to the NTSA system and the enforcement of regulations governing KD number plates. Members of the Independent Car Dealers Association say the new requirements have disrupted vehicle transportation from the Port of Mombasa and Container Freight Stations, leading to delays, increased costs, and losses for businesses. The dealers are now calling for urgent consultations with NTSA, arguing that the implementation of Section 24 of the Traffic Act and new movement permit requirements are negatively affecting the motor vehicle trade sector, which contributes billions in tax revenue and provides employment opportunities for hundreds of Kenyans.
