National Under-17 women’s team, the Junior Starlets, coach Mildred Cheche is hopeful that four players will join camp as the team settles into training ahead of the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup.
Three players from Butere Girls have not been released from school, while midfielder Mwanakombo Bakari has travelled to the United States on a football scholarship at Spire Academy.
Cheche hopes Bakari will be available later in the preparations or during the World Cup, which will be held in Morocco in October.
The Junior Starlets are in a tough group alongside the United States, China and Samoa, teams known for their physicality and tactical discipline.
Cheche says the team will make adjustments to its approach in the matches, with the coach hoping the new players will help the squad cope with the challenge.
