The Chinese minidramas going viral in Africa and worldwide - BBC Africa
After TikTok burst on to the scene and got a generation hooked on short-form video, a new Chinese video trend with an equally radical format is now making waves globally. Chinese micro-dramas are made up of dozens of cringy, addictive one-or-two-minute episodes. Many Chinese micro-drama apps have been launched globally, with hundreds of millions of downloads in Africa, the US, Asia and Latin America. Ironically, the industry now faces censorship in China for being too "vulgar" and promoting "bad values".
