The cooperative movement in Kenya has planted about 5,000 trees as part of environmental conservation efforts ahead of the International Day of Cooperatives (Ushirika Day), set for July 4. The initiative is led by the National Ushirika Council and the Cooperative Alliance of Kenya (CAK), aligning with this year’s theme, “Building Bridges, Showing Cooperative Resilience.”
Speaking during the tree-planting exercise, Cooperative Bank Director for the Cooperatives Banking Division Vincent Marangu highlighted that cooperatives have planted over 30,000 trees in the region over the past decade, with a strong survival rate due to ongoing maintenance.
