Youth groups in Machakos Town have threatened to hold daily demonstrations to pressure Members of the County Assembly to pass the full Sh17.8 billion county budget for the 2026/2027 financial year. The youth have accused County Assembly Speaker Ann Kiusya and a section of MCAs of frustrating development after the Assembly approved a 50 per cent vote-on-account to fund essential operations instead of passing the full budget.
