Court suspends order placing IPOA under Interior Ministry

The High Court has temporarily suspended the implementation of an Executive Order that sought to place the Independent Policing Oversight Authority under the Ministry of Interior and National Administration. The petitioners argue that placing IPOA under the ministry responsible for overseeing the National Police Service would undermine its constitutional independence and compromise its ability to investigate police misconduct. The court suspended the order pending the hearing and determination of the constitutional petition.
