The government is contemplating scheduled power outages, known as load-shedding, as a measure to safeguard the power transmission network from overloading. This is according to energy cabinet secretary Davis Chirchir who has attributed the power outage on sunday evening to an overload on a transmission line in western kenya. Chirchir has further warned of another nationwide blackout if appropriate investment is not channeled towards bolstering power supply across the nation.
