Domestic workers in Mombasa County have called on the government to ratify International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions 189 and 190, citing widespread mistreatment in the sector ranging from unpaid overtime and unclear contracts to abuse, harassment, and child labour.
The appeal was made during a public participation forum held at the KICODEP Social Hall in Bombolulu, where domestic workers shared personal experiences and stressed the urgent need for stronger legal protections for those employed both locally and abroad.
