Climate justice activists held a peaceful demonstration at Sharm El-sheikh at the COP27 in Egypt protesting investment in gas and oil in Africa.
The activists said the investment has never helped Africa achieve its development goal. The investment has also not helped the continent access its energy aspirations. Activists say the investment in oil and gas had displaced communities and made them lose their livelihoods besides polluting the environment. The investment has also disposed the continent its resources and left millions poor. They said renewable energy was the way to go in helping Africa attain its development goal. They said investment in oil and gas has left Africa in famine and drought.
