The ethics and anti-corruption commission is investigating 18 public universities following allegations of theft of public funds, with the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University being the latest addition to the dragnet over the loss of 2.6 billion shillings Speaking at the burial of EACC chairperson's mother in Ugenya, Siaya on Monday, the commission's spokesperson Eric Ngumbi said that the institution is under the radar for irregular procurement of major projects, involving six top officials including the immediate former vice chancellor and his deputy. The investigations also seek to unravel circumstances under which more than 200 unqualified students paid bribes to senior university officials to facilitate their graduation in October 2024. The students, who were to sit for supplementary exams, are alleged to have colluded with the officials, whom they paid a premium to include their names in the graduation list
