Economic Survey shows Sh5.2bn in unclaimed assets, rising county debt, and falling real wages

    The 2025 Economic Survey shows that over 5.2 billion shillings sits in the country’s unclaimed financial assets, up from 4.3 billion recorded in 2024. The report shows that over 70.4 percent of these unclaimed assets come from the banking sector, equivalent to over 3.6 billion. The information and telecommunications sector was the largest contributor of unclaimed assets at over 771.2 million, while listed companies and insurance accounted for 474.2 million and 139.7 million worth of unclaimed assets respectively.
