Environmentalists in the Malindi Sub-County of Kilifi County have raised concern over the increased poor disposal of baby diapers which is harmful to the environment. Every second Saturday of the month, the environmentalists, under the Progress Welfare Association, have been leading the cleaning of beaches and Malindi town. They say that the diapers are also contributing to open defecation and called for action to end the menace. Lennox Mwangolo, the Malindi and Watamu Sub-County Environment Officer committed to supplement the efforts by scaling up public sensitization at campaigns on the benefits of a clean environment.
