    The Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau has reaffirmed government’s commitment to disability inclusion and equal access to education. Presiding over the commissioning of a smart computer library at the Machakos Technical Institute for the Blind, Wanjau said the facility is a milestone in bridging the digital divide for learners with visual impairments and aligns with the new Persons with Disability Act 2025.The modern library is equipped with assistive technology, from desktop computers with screen readers to braille paper and talking calculators, tools that will open a world of knowledge to students who for years have struggled with limited resources. Secretary to the Cabinet, Mercy Wanjau, led the launch, calling the initiative a powerful step towards inclusivity in education and technology access;The project was made possible through collaboration between government and the Rotary Club of Kilimani Al-Fajiri, which has so far invested more than two million shillings in equipment,The Machakos Technical Institute for the Blind, the only technical training institute for the blind in the region, hopes to grow into a national polytechnic and a center of excellence for inclusive education.
