Families displaced after land dispute violence in Kahawa West

Tonight, several families in Kamuthi, Kahawa West estate in Nairobi, will spend the night in the cold after armed goons demolished and torched their homes. The violence is linked to a dispute over a one-acre parcel of land. The Njunge Nduati family insists the land was transferred to their father by their late grandfather in 1997 and maintains they are the rightful owners. The victims are now calling for a court inquiry, alleging that a well-connected individual is behind efforts to grab their ancestral land.
