Rivers are said to be the veins of a country, but when we pollute them, they become sick. Ironically, many rivers and streams passing through Nairobi city and satellite towns, are billowing with filth as a result of pollution. In this week's special edition of “rivers of poison”, people living downstream of Athi river have been forced to use the contaminated water for farming and other uses, endangering their health.
