The government has extended the 8% VAT relief on petroleum products until October and set aside an additional KSh 945 million to stabilize fuel prices. Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi says the measures are meant to shield consumers and businesses from global market volatility while ensuring adequate fuel supplies. The announcement comes just hours before EPRA releases its latest fuel price review, sparking speculation of a possible pump price hike. The VAT relief was first introduced in April, cutting tax on petroleum products from 16 to 8 percent amid Middle East conflict-driven supply disruptions. Citizen TV's Ben Kirui reports.
