The government, through the State Department for East African Community Affairs and Regional Development, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening regional integration by securing Kenya's borders and enhancing trade within the East African Community. The commitment comes as Kenya maintains its position as the region's leading intra-EAC exporter, accounting for 35 per cent of total exports within the bloc, with manufactured goods continuing to dominate the country's export basket. Speaking during a media engagement forum in Nairobi, Principal Secretary for the State Department for East African Community Affairs and Regional Development, Dr. Caroline Karugu, said securing Kenya's borders remains a key government priority as it continues to work closely with regional partners to unlock more trade and investment opportunities for Kenyans.
