The ministry of education has so far uncovered more than 50,000 ghost students in secondary schools across the country, as part of an ongoing national verification exercise. Appearing before the national assembly education committee, basic education principal secretary julius bitok revealed that the audit has covered 17,400 out of 32,000 schools nationwide.He further noted that the issue may not be limited to ghost students alone as there are concerns that some schools listed in government records may not exist at all
