Head teachers are under scrutiny for allegedly submitting inaccurate learner data during a recent verification exercise. The Ministry of Education says some School heads provided false information, to skew capitation allocation to their favour. Speaking in Garissa during the North Eastern Region Conference, the Director in charge of Junior School, Hassan Duale, said the verification exercise uncovered cases where non-existent birth certificate serial numbers were used to register learners, noting that the irregularities raised suspicion within the ministry, prompting a nationwide verification to establish the actual number of learners in junior schools.
