Health unions threaten to down their tools from 1st July 2026

Health Sector unions are threatening to down their tools in two weeks time if the government fails to absorb Universal Health Coverage and Global Fund workers into permanent and pensionable terms. The Nairobi Health Union Caucus is also demanding the 8.9 billion shillings allocated in the 2026/2027 budget for the workers be channeled through the equitable share framework rather than conditional grants.
