IEBC clarifies fresh registration needed for older voters lacking biometric data

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has clarified that only voters who did not register electronically in 2012 are required to register a fresh and not everyone who signed up at the time. The clarification follows confusion and speculation among Kenyans who questioned a statement by IEBC chairperson Erastus Etetheon. The clarification came amid fresh concerns over missing polling stations on the online portal. IEBC attributed this to heavy traffic from many users accessing the system simultaneously.
