Intern teachers to strike next week on 29th April

Intern teachers serving under the junior secondary schools have announced plans to strike next week from 29th April, following an alleged violation of a court ruling dated April 17th. The ruling nullified the Teachers Service Commission's implementation of internship posts to teachers who are already qualified and possess TSC numbers. According to the JSS interns, over 50,000 teachers were employed on internship contracts for up to two years with minimal pay, despite holding teaching certificates. They argue that the practice violates labour laws.
