Journalists in Mombasa have been urged to maintain high standards of ethics, professionalism, and responsibility while contributing to community education and national development. The call was made during a farewell ceremony for veteran journalist Mohammed Hassan, the outgoing Kenya News Agency (KNA) Coast Region Chief, who retired after 38 years of public service. Businessman Abubakar Joho warned journalists against publishing stories that damage reputations, urging them instead to focus on content that promotes unity and social cohesion. He also encouraged media practitioners to help educate young people on job opportunities in institutions such as the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).
