Kenyans earning Sh30,000 and below could soon be exempted from income tax as Parliament considers key amendments to the Finance Bill following nationwide public participation. The National Assembly Finance and National Planning Committee says it will incorporate citizens’ views collected across 15 counties, where concerns over high taxation, mobile money charges, and rising living costs dominated discussions. Lawmakers also faced strong opposition to proposed levies on mobile phone activation and processed foods. The committee has pledged to reflect public input in its report ahead of the Finance Bill debate.
