    Young people in Kenya continue to shoulder a significant share of the country’s HIV burden, with children, adolescents, and youth accounting for more than half of all new infections recorded in 2026. New data from the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council shows that Kenya recorded 13,936 new HIV infections in 2026, marking a 56 percent decline from 2020, when infections stood at 32,027, an indication that expanded prevention efforts are yielding results.
