Kisii County Government has distributed 100,000 free Ruiru 11 coffee seedlings to farmers as part of efforts to boost coffee production and improve farmers' incomes.
Speaking during the flagging-off ceremony at the Kisii Agricultural Training Centre, Governor Simba Arati said the high-yielding coffee variety is expected to significantly increase production, with each plant capable of producing at least five kilograms of coffee cherries per season.
The governor urged farmers to adopt good agricultural practices, including the proper use of fertilizers and pesticides, to maximize yields.
