Garissa KNUT officials are urging the Ministry of Education and the National Treasury to expedite the release of school capitation funds ahead of the national exams. Branch Executive Secretary Abdirizack Hussein says the delay has disrupted learning in the drought-hit region, further straining schools already struggling to stay afloat.
He is also calling for the immediate revival of the School Feeding Program to keep pupils in class, while insisting that junior secondary schools should continue to be domiciled in primary schools.
