KUPPET gives TSC seven-day strike ultimatum

The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to promote the remaining 16,000 teachers out of the 50,000 promised by President William Ruto or face a nationwide strike. The union says only 34,000 teachers have been promoted so far and warns that if the commission fails to honour the President's pledge within seven days, it will paralyse learning in the crucial third term, which begins at the end of August.
