The Kuria community together with other stakeholders hosts the Local Original Kuria Arts (LOKA) Festival in Migori. The festival aims at eradicating FGM through the use of the Kuria language, to educate members of the community who do not understand English or Kiswahili, on the negative impacts of FGM to the Kuria girl child. This festival comes at a time when the community’s FGM practices are set to start towards the end of November 2023 till early January 2024 when schools are closed.
