Residents of Kasemeni and Mwavumbo ward in Kwale county are demanding that the government pay them compensation for their land where construction of the Mwache dam began in 2021. According to the residents, they are yet to receive compensation for over 968 plots, prompting them to take to the streets to demand payment. They have pledged to seal off transport activities to the construction site until they are paid their dues.
