The Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs has stepped up efforts to position Tana River County as a major hub for large-scale mineral extraction, in a move aimed at transforming the region’s economic prospects and strengthening Kenya’s Sovereign Wealth Fund.
Government surveys have identified Tana River County as hosting substantial manganese deposits, particularly within the Mid-Galana geological zone. Geological mapping and field investigations have confirmed structurally controlled manganese mineralization linked to fault systems in the Lali Hill area.
