Leaders raise alarm over rising gender-based violence in Vihiga County

Leaders in Vihiga County have expressed concern over the increasing cases of gender-based violence and sexual assault targeting elderly women and minors. Speaking on Monday, October 27, 2025, Women’s Representative Caroline Angote decried the alarming rate of rape and murder cases, especially against elderly women. She revealed that incidents of incest and sodomy involving young boys were also rising, urging community and church leaders to take a stand against such moral decay.
