The government through the Ministry of mining, blue economy and maritime affairs has signed a memorandum of understanding with the International center living and aquatic resources management also known as Worldfish, to foster collaboration in research and development of the maritime sector. According the principal secretary in the state department for blue economy and maritime affairs, Betsy Njagi, the move is aimed at increasing the sectors contribution to the GDP from the current 37 billion shillings to over 100 billion by 2027.
