Kenya’s push to build a skilled maritime workforce has received a major boost after Mount Kenya University (MKU) unveiled a Sh30 million modern bridge simulator at its Malindi Maritime Academy, as the institution steps up efforts to tap into the largely underdeveloped maritime sector.
The high-tech simulator is designed to replicate real-life ship bridge operations, giving trainees hands-on experience in navigation, vessel handling, safety management, and emergency response under varying sea and weather conditions.
