Mau Mau road project linking Nyeri to Kirinyaga stalls

Leaders from three counties in Central Kenya are appealing to the senate to form a special task force to resolve the impasse that saw the cancellation of the fourth lot of construction of the 4.4 billion shillings Maumau road project. The design of a 54 km stretch connecting the counties of Nyeri, Muranga and Nyandarua through the Aberdare forest ran into headwinds after the Kenya National Highways Authority failed to secure an environmental assessment report, which would grant the authority possession of a 33 km stretch that was to pass through a closed canopy in the forest.
