The Ministry of Education has promised to release HELB loans for university and TVET students on Tuesday next week to avert potential strikes in institutions of higher learning. In a statement released today, education CS Ezekiel Machogu called on students who had applied for loans on the higher education financing portal to ensure that their bank details, as provided in the loan application, were accurate. The ministry remains unclear on the amount of funds the students will receive in the various categories as stipulated in the new funding model, and on whether scholarships will be awarded come Tuesday.
