Mombasa Seafarers warn blue economy stakeholders to beware of 'conmen' who want to transact business with them in the name of their union. Trustees of the Seafarers Union of Kenya say they are now the bonafide members allowed to transact union business, not any other member, following instructions from the Registrar of Trade Unions until eligible elections are conducted.
Addressing the media in Mombasa during a seafarers meeting, Atie Swaleh Ramadhan a,seafarers Union Trustee confirmed Seafarers have been ordered to hold fresh elections, after the Employment and Labour Relations court sitting in Mombasa declared the elections held on April 14, 2021 null and void.
