Mombasa County has intensified preparations for the anticipated heavy El Niño rains expected from the second week of October. Governor Abdulswamad Nassir says the county will introduce measures to keep construction materials away from roads and drainage channels, recruit up to 3,000 young people for flood-prevention efforts, and strengthen security at the Likoni Ferry. Residents have also been urged to avoid flood-prone areas and follow official advisories as the county works to reduce the risk of flooding and protect lives and property.
