ODM nominated MP Umulkheir Harun has launched a series of public engagement forums across Garissa County to collect testimonies and feedback from residents affected by recurring floods that have devastated homes, farms, livestock, and livelihoods for years.
The engagements follow a lawsuit filed by the legislator at the Garissa High Court seeking justice and compensation for victims of perennial floods linked to dam spillages and River Tana overflows.
Speaking during a meeting in Bula Vumbi, Galbet Ward, Harun said the court had already directed all interested parties, including farmers’ groups, affected residents, and the Garissa County Government, to join the petition. She maintained that the case seeks lasting solutions and compensation for affected communities rather than confrontation with the government.
