A section of MPs from Nairobi County now wants the Nairobi City County Government to compensate victims of the Gikomba fire that gutted businesses on Saturday night. Led by Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, the lawmakers question the capacity of the county’s disaster management team since the fire was only a short distance from the fire station. Two people lost their lives, while at least 17 sustained injuries. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
