Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is accusing a section of politicians of covertly bankrolling armed groups to disrupt Thursday’s protest, while purporting to publicly call for peace. In a briefing with security agencies, Murkomen says they are actively pursuing the financiers of the violence. At the same time, he confirmed they have given the okay for a peaceful memorial to be held in honour of the victims of the 2024 anti-Finance Bill. His statement came barely hours after Nairobi regional commander Issa Mohamud had declared the planned protests unlawful. Yusuf Farah with the details.
