Oparanya denies SACCO control claims amid push for reforms after scandals

Co-operatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya has refuted claims that the government is coming up with legislation to control SACCOs. Oparanya says financial scandals involving the Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (KUSCCO) and the collapse of Metropolitan National SACCO necessitated the formation of a taskforce that recommended a raft of amendments.
