An exclusive club of 125 people in Kenya holds wealth that is more than 43 million other Kenyans combined. This is according to the first-ever Status of Inequality in Kenya report published by Oxfam, which shows that poverty levels are rising in the country. The report shows that seven million people have slid into extreme poverty over the last decade. Equality proponents are now calling on the government and the political class to rethink the structure of the economy and to prioritize measures that promote wealth redistribution that protects low-income earners.
