Parents have been urged to take greater responsibility for guiding and monitoring their children's behaviour amid growing concerns over learner indiscipline in schools. Speaking during Madaraka Day celebrations in Gatuanyaga, Thika East Sub-county, Kiambu County Commissioner George Matundura revealed that two schools in the county have already been closed due to indiscipline among learners. Matundura warned that some parents are worsening the problem by defending children even when they are clearly in the wrong, contributing to incidents such as school fires, destruction of property, and loss of lives. He emphasized the need for parents and teachers to work together in instilling discipline and building a strong moral and academic foundation for learners.
