https://nation.africa/ Passengers on a 14 seater matatu ply escaped death narrowly after the vehicle they were in developed electrical issues before going up in flames at Kibarani, Mombasa County on Sunday evening.
The Mombasa-Jomvu matatu was from the island heading to Mainland Mombasa when the incident occurred.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle caught fire minutes after the passengers were asked to alight as the Driver and conductor pushed it to the side of the road.
David Nyiro a survivor said the vehicle seemed to have a fault from the engine. Firefighters from the Mombasa County fire department arrived some minutes later and helped put out the fire.
Nobody was injured in the 5.30 pm incident apart from causing a traffic glitch.
