Kenyans have been urged to rethink how they prepare for retirement, with calls for stronger savings habits, wider social support, and housing models that preserve dignity in old age. Speaking in Nairobi during the unveiling of the Pension Club International, it was noted that too many citizens face the risk of poverty and isolation after leaving formal employment, a reality worsened by low savings rates and the absence of universal pension coverage. County Pension Fund Group Chief Executive Dr. Hosea Kili said the initiative seeks to create a community where members can access discounted services, invest collectively in retirement housing, and build social circles that help fight loneliness and depression in later years. By bringing together students, informal sector workers, professionals, and retirees under one umbrella, it also aims to change cultural attitudes towards saving and make retirement planning a mainstream conversation in the country.
