President William Ruto has today received a 350 million development credit facility from the World Bank to support Kenya’s urbanization effort. The president who spoke in Nairobi emphasized the need to decongest cities across the country by creating alternative settlements in smaller towns. According to the president, this would solve the competition between land for settlement and agriculture, resulting in stability in food production. The second phase of the Kenyan urban support program is expected to benefit 77 municipalities across the 45 counties with Nairobi and Mombasa being locked out of the program owing to their expansive need for capital.
