Police disrupt protest over Kizza Besigye’s detention

Police have broken up a planned protest against the arrest and detention of Ugandan opposition figure Kizza Besigye. RUN VCR. Four activists were arrested on Kimathi Street as they attempted to march to Harambee Avenue to present a petition to the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The activists said they wanted to highlight the plight of Besigye, whose health is reportedly deteriorating in detention. They also accused the Kenyan government of complicity in the case.
