In the Augustinian Parish of Baba Dogo in Nairobi, excitement over the new pope remains high. That’s in part due to the fact that Pope Leo XIV, made several trips to Kenya while he was Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost and was head of the Augustinian order.
Only a few months ago he visited the Sacred Heart Catholic Church — a visit his friend Father Bob Karanja Ireri said Pope Leo recalls warmly.
